MPG Ratings and Fuel Efficiency
One category that can sometimes get looked over is MPG ratings. These are important to pay attention to because they provide you with an idea of how often you’ll need to stop and get gas.
In the base trim level for the Kia Forte, the FE, you’re going to get an EPA-estimated 27 city/37 highway MPG*. Over in the Hyundai Elantra SE 6MT trim, which is also the base level, you’re going to fall a bit short with an EPA-estimated 26 city/36 highway MPG.

Exterior Design and Style
The exterior of the Forte features smooth lines and a sleek body style, while the Elantra model’s exterior is boxier. The Forte comes in at just 2,707 pounds, so zipping around the town streets will be a breeze, while the Elantra is a bit more bulky, weighing in at 2,822 pounds.
You’ll find auto-off headlights on the Forte, which means you never have to panic about leaving your headlights on and draining your battery. These aren’t available on the Elantra.
Interior Cabin Comfort
Now, let’s head inside both these vehicles and dive into the different comfort features found there. After all, that is where you’re going to be spending most of your time.
The 2019 Forte comes equipped with the standard Automatic Climate Control System. Instead of constantly having to turn the heat and air conditioning up and down as you drive, you just set it to the temperature you’re most comfortable at, and then the system will automatically adjust your temperature settings to match it. This system is not available in the 2019 Elantra.
The Forte also comes equipped with standard Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control, which means you and your front seat passenger will be able to adjust the temperature in each of your respective areas. That means everyone will be comfortable and relaxed. Again, this system isn’t available in the Elantra.
The Verdict: Kia Forte vs Hyundai Elantra
While both these vehicles have impressive features, it’s clear the Kia Forte comes out on top against the Hyundai Elantra when it comes to MPG ratings and fuel efficiency, interior cabin comfort, and exterior style and functionality.
