Kia Forte vs Toyota Corolla
When it comes to the agile, swift, and efficient compact sedan, you’ve got some great options in models like the Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla. The only question is: Which one brings the most of what you need in the Jenkintown, Rydal, and Glenside areas?
To help you figure that out, the team at Sussman Kia created this comparison of the 2020 Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla.
Kia Forte vs Toyota Corolla: Powertrain Comparison
The Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla may be compact, but they’re still mighty. Both sedans have an option for a 6-speed manual transmission. This is ideal for drivers who want to have complete control over their drive.
If you prefer an automatic, you also have the option of a continuously variable transmission in either sedan, or a dual-clutch transmission in the Kia Forte.

When it comes to engine power, you’ll get a bit more out of the standard engine in the Kia Forte. This Kia car comes with a 2.0L I-4 that generates 147 horsepower. The Corolla, on the other hand, maxes out its horsepower at 169 with its 1.8L I-4 engine.
Need even more? Upgrade your Forte to the GT line and enjoy a 1.6L turbo I-4 roaring under the hood as it produces 201 horsepower. Unfortunately, the Toyota Corolla doesn’t offer a similar upgrade.
2020 Forte vs Corolla: Interior Specs
Whether you’re behind the wheel of the Forte or Corolla, you’ll find a surprisingly spacious interior. Both sedans can seat a total of five passengers. They also offer a similar amount of passenger space, with approximately 42 inches of legroom and 38 inches of headroom for the driver.
You can pack a bit heavier in the Kia Forte, which gives you 15.3 cubic feet of trunk space. Compare this to just 13.2 cubic feet of trunk space in the Corolla.
Aside from that, both sedans give you an available sunroof and an available 8-inch infotainment touchscreen complete with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility.
Smart Safety Features for the Forte and Corolla
One of our favorite things about these compact sedans is that they offer a variety of smart safety features that can help you get where you’re going with greater awareness. This includes:
- Forward Collision Mitigation with Pedestrian Detection
- Auto Emergency Braking
- Lane Keeping
They also both come with a Blind Spot Monitoring System. This can help you change lanes and merge more safely by providing a visual cue when another vehicle enters your side blind spot.
The Kia Forte takes this a step further with its available Lane Change Assist feature. This will let you know if traffic approaching in your intended lane is moving too quickly to allow for safe lane changes.
It also has a neat feature called Driver Attention Warning. This issues an alert when it detects behaviors that indicate drowsy or distracted driving. This is your cue to consider taking a break from behind the wheel.
The Toyota Corolla doesn’t offer any features that are comparable to these.
Will You Drive the Kia Forte or Toyota Corolla?
While both the 2020 Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla are great cars, Sussman Kia found that the Forte brings more cargo space, smart safety features, and engine power to the Jenkintown area.
