2021 Kia Telluride Towing Capacity
To help answer that question, the team at Sussman Kia has put together this page for drivers around Jenkintown, Rydal, and Glenside. Read on to learn more about the Telluride’s towing capacity, engine, and even its safety features!
Telluride Engine and Towing Capacity
The Kia Telluride, when properly equipped, has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. With 5,000 pounds, you can tow boats, midsized trailers, ATVs, or a few jet skis. You’ll have a lot of different options for adventure.
Behind this towing capacity is a powerful standard 3.8L Lambda V6 engine generating 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This powerful engine still earns good fuel economy with an EPA-estimated 20 city/26 highway MPG.*
For a sportier drive focused on performance, the Telluride has a Sportmatic™ Sports Shifter. With this feature, you can manually change gears as you want, getting that control you’d have with a manual transmission. If you don’t want to use this feature, you can flip back to the standard electronically controlled 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Kia Telluride comes standard with front-wheel drive. If you’re someone who wants a bit more traction on those rainy or snowy days, upgrade to the Active On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with AWD Lock and Snow Mode. Your Telluride will monitor road conditions and distribute power to wheels accordingly, helping ensure you’ll always get the traction you need.
So you can have more control over your driving experience, the Telluride comes with four different drive modes: Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Smart. You can use these drive modes to help tow or save fuel, depending on what you want at the time. If you want to enjoy a sporty drive out on the highway, use Sport mode. For the most comfortable drive, use Comfort mode.
Telluride Safety and Driver-Assist Features
To help keep drivers safe and give them peace of mind, Kia has a suite of driver-assist and safety features under the title Kia Drive Wise. The trim level you choose will determine which of these features come standard or are available. Some of these features are:
- Available Blind Spot View Monitor – On your dashboard gauge cluster, you can view a live feed of your Telluride’s blind spots.
- Standard Lane Departure Warning – While you’re driving on the highway, if you begin to drift out of your lane unintentionally, your Telluride will warn you.
- Standard Auto Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection – Using radar, this system monitors the front of your Kia. If it senses a potential collision, your Telluride will warn you and can even apply the brakes to help avoid or lessen the severity of an accident.
